Tick or Treat
Here it is the day before Halloween. I love Halloween. I have such fond memories of dressing up and going trick or treating. I think that I will share of few of them with you. I trick or treated until I was 18 years old (with my height, I could get away with it). When I was three, my mom made a schunk costume and entered me in the Park and Rec Halloween Costume Contest. I ended up winning first place (by the way, when my two younger sisters were big enough to wear the costume, they also entered the contest and won first place!!!). I can remember dressing up as a roller skating queen and a housewife (cold cream, rollers, robe, slippers--the whold bit). One year--I think it was my last--my friend Matt and I decided to go as "Mutt and Jeff" (he was 6-6) and we were such a unique pair. We would try to go to as many houses as we could, just to get lots of candy, not to mention to go visit the areas where the movie stars lived. When I went to the Philippines on my mission, I was sad to find out that the filippinos did not celebrate Halloween--I thought the every country did, gee. However, it is that countrys' custom to honor All Saints Day. It is on November 1st--close enough, right? On All Saints Day, everyone goes to the cemetary to eat with their dead--yum, yum. You bring your meal and sit at your deceased love ones' grave and eat with them, hoping that that persons' spirit will appear and join you. According to Melchor, the best place to do it is at the Chinese cemetary, cause they are wealthy and have great food and are very willing to share with you. Well, those are a few of my Halloween memories. I sure hope that you liked them and got a smile out of it. Hope that you have a Happy Halloween.

So, Susan, I am dying to know what a "schunk" costume is that won you all first place!!!
Susan~ I'm just the opposite. I barely tolerate Halloween. (I did go help w/ the 5th grade spook alley this morning.) Last year I got in the shower just before the ward Halloween party--running late, of course. When I got out, I looked in the mirror and thought, "What the heck!" So I put on my bathrobe (over my clothes), put junk on my face, threw on my slippers, and went over to the church. My family was quite surprised to see Mom straight out of the shower!
