National Mormon Day

Yesterday was election day (da Susan) and as a last ditch effort to get the people of CA to vote no on Prop 8 (Ca's version of Az's prop 102--marriage is to be defined between an man and a woman), a group of people decided to air a video using Mormon missionaries to represent the church in taking away the gays' right to marry. It was a pretty sick ad, by the way. Will, another group called the "Ruth ????" ( just forgot the dang name--its only 4:30 in the morning, for goodness sakes) felt that it was a pretty low blow to church and it was against any person or church's right of speech, so they decided to make this day "National Mormon Day". Pretty cool, huh? I found the article at www.meridianmagazine.com so you can look it up and read it for yourself. So in honor of National Mormon Day, I would simply like to wish all of you---"Happy National Mormon Day" (have I written it enough???). Have a great day--til next blog, see ya.

I saw that offensive commercial. Unbelievable. Glad that it is looking like the prop will pass anyway! Way to go CA!

Thanks for the link, Susan. I spent all morning reading about Prop.8 and the stories of the LDS members in California. I had no idea just how bad it is there! I just found out tonight that my sister-in-law's calling is with the Church's public relations in Tuscan, and she and my brother were very involved with the AZ campaign. I feel a great sense of awe and gratitude to all those who worked so hard in the face of such opposition!
