The Pros and Cons of Being Sick

I knew it was coming. I felt it coming on in the middle of my shift last Tuesday morning. The blah feeling, fever, sore throat, oh no, here comes a cold feeling. As a nurse, I diagnosed myself correctly. I was hoping that I might get cancelled at work on Wednesday, but it did not happen. I ended up going into work. I did stay way from the babies, but as the night grew on, I got worse. I am grateful that Melchor sent me to work with some theraflu. I made it home and went straight to sleep. Between naps, the thought occurred to me that there are some pros and cons to being sick.

Cons:
1. You feel like crap--the world can just pass me by
2. You are on drugs--as much as I do not like taking any medications, I find myself taking tylenol, theraflu, afrin and anything else that is in the medicine cabinet that is labeled for cold symptoms.
3. You are doing nothing but sleep---it wastes the day away but then again, you don't feel much like doing anything much else anyways.
4. You are drinking lots of water ergo you end up having to go to the bathroom alot when you have no strength to make it to the bathroom.

Pros:
1. You loose weight--simply because you are not eating due to the loss of appetite
2. You get lots of sleep--you do not feel much of doing anything else.
3. Your family waits on you constantly--because they love you and want to take care of you or maybe they want you to get better faster so you can take care of them !!??
4. You can catch up on your reading--since you have no energy to do anything else but read, you can finish up that book that you have been trying to read for the past three months!!!!
5. Once you are better, you can really appreciate you health once more.

So now I am just reading, resting and drinking lots of water so that I can once again enjoy my well being.
4. Your taste buds are dead--even though you might feel like eating, you can taste nothing, so way eat???

Hi Susan,
I hope you are feeling better real soon. It's no fun to be sick, but it is kinda fun to have everyone wait on you. Love you, Tricia
